The success of their debut album “My Hele Hart” (translated: My entire Heart) not only garnered the renowned South African quartet ROMANZ with instantaneous fame but also with the appellation: ‘virile vocal velvet’.

ROMANZ offers their audience quality contemporary music, vocally intertwined with a light Classical approach. Since their beginning as ROMANZ three years ago, the talented voices pride themselves – so far - with 21 Hits, 4 Music Awards, and all 3 of their studio albums (“My Hele Hart”, 2008, Double Platinum/ “Bly Getrou”, 2009, Platinum/ “Ek Sal Getuig”, 2010, Double Platinum) were Top Ten in the local music charts. The third album, “Ek sal Getuig”, remained No One on “Die Kyknet Top Ten” for almost 1 year.

When ROMANZ showcased its vocal ability during the live debut at the Klein-Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees in 2008, the quartet was propelled into popularity almost overnight. A year later the group was asked to perform their rendition of the South African National Anthem in front of 50 000 stadium visitors and millions of TV viewers worldwide at the Rugby Tri-Nations Clash. Their talent and skill made them shine all the way to “Skouspel”, one of the biggest showcase spectacle in South Africa for the Afrikaans speaking music scene.

Louis Loock, André Venter, Adam Barnard and Burgerd Botha are ROMANZ: real guys with real vocal talent and real classical voice training; the personification of honed professionalism, based in otherwise furtive and humble but determined personalities. Already from a tender age, each one had a passion for music. When Niel Schoombee (formerly from the South African group “Hi5”) sought new talent, these four were chosen from a group of 500 hopeful individuals nationally.

It was their unique voices, humility, openness, approachability, trust in each other that made them stand out then and makes ROMANZ one of the most successful and popular vocal quartets in Afrikaans.

Without the formation of the vocal group ROMANZ, we might have had another Economist, Lawyer, Architect and Veterinarian added to the working class – instead we will be able to witness the uniqueness of ROMANZ on a more global level: their latest album “With All MY Heart” is recorded in English, Italian and German and due for release in July 2011.
